Silver is the craftsman. Local craftsman in Hong Kong is entering the silver age, they work alone without apprentices, eventually the skills will retire with the craftsman. Silver is a project where we work with the craftsman to create objects that shows the beauty of their skills. The process is documented.
Galvanized steel is a typical material found in older Hong Kong. They can still be spotted in older areas, in the form of mail boxes, tool box for construction workers or gate of the old shops. The material is relatively easy to be manipulated, making it possible to be made into products in just a one man factory in an aisle next to the busy streets.
Silver combines the craft of making galvanized steel with finely treated leather details to create a series of stationery items, mixing the highs and lows of our culture and bringing what is made and used in the streets to the inside where we work and live.
